Churchill Corner Mixed Use Development

2005-2008: Construction Documents, Project Management & Construction Administration as a Project Manager for D+A Studio

5 residential units | 8 commercial units | 26,000 square feet

Churchill Corner occupies the most prominent corner on San Juan Island. With a location across from the Washington State  Ferry Terminal, it was essential that the large building be designed to harmonize with the existing traditional fabric of the small town of Friday Harbor.

In order to activate the site, the building was split into three parts that surround a network of pedestrian alleyways that connect the town with an adjacent park, provide for retail spaces on two ground floors, and capture views of the harbor from all five of the condominiums above.

Intense coordination was required between all the members of the project team, including the community, the Historic Preservation Review Board, and five different engineering disciplines.
